We’re social creatures, it’s in our very nature, therefore staying away from our family and friends is understandably hard. The longer the lock down continues, the more difficult it becomes, especially if you are elderly or live alone. Luckily, technology has made it easier for us to stay in touch with each other.
Now that we can’t do face-to-face, do screen-to-screen. Video chatting through services like Skype, WhatsApp, Messenger and FaceTime is the closest thing to seeing someone in person. In fact, it´s ‘almost’ as good!
If you can’t do that, a good old fashioned telephone call is just as good. The main thing is that you do it, so make a point of touching base with people and give extra attention to friends, family and neighbours who may feel isolated during the lock down.
In addition to technology allowing us to keep in contact on a social basis, it is also allowing us to continue networking with our business contacts. This is important so we don´t forget all our local businesses. It helps bring us closer together as a community as well. One such fantastic organisation is CostaWomenBusinessBreakfast. There are many groups under the banner CostaWomen, some are social and some are business, but they are all very friendly and well organised. Since the lock down, there have been many events online via platforms like Zoom and Streamyard.
See what works for you, but most importantly STAY CONNECTED!
