Cooking

The longer we have to stay in, the harder it becomes, so how can you make it a little bit easier?

By now, we all know that staying at home is hard. In fact, it’s probably harder than you expected, but remember, by slowing the spread of the coronavirus, we’re helping to save lives. And in the meanwhile, I´ve put together some ideas to help you through. From learning new skills to putting all that pent-up energy to good use, you got this! Feel free to comment and add your own ideas and lets spread the word and help stay busy, healthy and positive during this time.

Start meal planning

As the whole world moves to slow the spread of the coronavirus, every country has their own “lock down rules”. For example, here in Marbella, we cannot get out as normal, with essential trips only allowed. That means keeping shopping trips to a minimum, so meal planning is a must. Think about what you need, what will keep and what you’ll have to use quickly – make a list and stick to it.

If you’re worried you won’t be able to go out for a while, ask a friend if they can help or try making freezer-friendly recipes in advance to make fresh food last longer. Remember, if you’re in isolation, you can’t go out at all, so you’ll need to make arrangements for a contact-free delivery from a supermarket or a friend. And please don’t panic – there’s enough food for everyone if we just buy what we need.

If you plan your shopping, then it is easier to plan your meals to ensure you have enough until your next shopping trip. Meal planning and prepping also saves time and waste, and gives you one less thing to worry about. We have plenty more ideas as to how to fill your day.

If, on the other hand, you like to cook and find that you like this as a way to fill your day, there are plenty of people in need at the moment. Yesterday, I cooked 20 soups, 20 rice and 20 main courses for
